$1 U.S. Gold Coins

New Items Added: 1881 Seated Liberty Quarter PROOF. The Seated Liberty designs appeared on most regular-issue silver United States coinage during the mid- and late-nineteenth century, from 1836 through 1891. The denominations which featured the Seated Liberty design included the half dime, the dime, the quarter, the half dollar, and the silver dollar. Another coin that appeared exclusively in the Seated Liberty design was the twenty cent piece. This coin was produced from 1875 to 1878, and was discontinued because it looked very similar to the quarter. Seated Liberty coinage was minted at the main United States Mint in Philadelphia, as well as the branch mints in New Orleans, San Francisco, and Carson City.

1921 PEACE DOLLAR Coins. The Peace Dollar is a silver United States dollar coin minted from 1921 to 1928, then again in 1934 and 1935. Early proposals for the coin called for a commemorative issue to coincide with the end of World War I, but the Peace Dollar was issued as a circulating coin.

MINTAGE Rarity with original mintage of 149,750, this MS63 is exceptionally valuable with only 325 known finer. Nice mintage of the Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle. President Teddy Roosevelt commissioned Augusta Saint-Gauden to design a new American Coin in the tradition of the great Greek coinage. Considered by many to be the most beautiful American coin, this classic Gold Double Eagle is a beautiful and highly desirable coin.

1894 Rare *Key Date* Morgan Silver Dollar Coin. More than half a billion Morgan dollars were struck from 1878 through 1904, with production taking place at the main mint in Philadelphia and the branches in New Orleans, San Francisco and Carson City. Carson City production was generally much lower and ended altogether after that branch was closed in 1893. The coin came back for one final curtain call in 1921, when more than 86 million examples were produced under the terms of the Pittman Act at Philadelphia, San Francisco and Denver-but that was a double-edged sword: Under the 1918 legislation, more than 270 million older silver dollars, almost all Morgans, had been melted. The law required replacements for these, but most were of the Peace design, which replaced the Morgan version at the end of 1921.
